Sen. Cruz Visits Beaumont, Orange and Port Arthur

Visits with volunteers, storm victims and first responders

MAURICEVILLE, Texas – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today made several stops in Beaumont, Orange, Port Arthur and Mauriceville to visit volunteers, storm victims, and first responders, and survey storm damage. In Beaumont, he visited a distribution center run by state and local evangelical organizations providing supplies to residents impacted by Hurricane Harvey. There, Sen. Cruz thanked first responders and Guardsmen for their selfless service to Beaumont residents, before visiting with emergency management officials at the Beaumont Emergency Operations Center. Later, Sen. Cruz visited Beaumont Fire and Rescue services, who provided countless high water rescues.

In Port Arthur, Sen. Cruz assisted members of the Seventh Street Baptist Church with relief efforts, before joining U.S. Representative Brian Babin (R-Texas) at a Mauriceville shelter to assist volunteers serve local residents. Later, Sen. Cruz and Rep. Babin visited with emergency management officials at the Orange County Emergency Operations Center. 

“Even in the midst of devastation, we are seeing Texans coming together,” Sen. Cruz said. “Churches, community members and officials from every branch of the government are working tirelessly to help those who are hurting. We will come back stronger than ever.”
