Sen. Cruz Addresses Zionist Organization of America

Applauds U.S. withdrawal from Iran Deal, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s presentation on Iran’s nuclear program, and decision to move U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Wednesday addressed members of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) in the aftermath of the President’s announcement on the Iran deal. There, he applauded the President’s decision to withdraw from the Iran Deal and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s presentation on Iran’s nuclear developments. He also praised the decision to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and thanked ZOA members for their steadfast leadership.

“Yesterday the President did the right thing,” Sen. Cruz said. “I was in the White House, I was in the Oval Office with the President a half hour before his Iran speech. It’s a step that I have been urging him to do for the last year and a half. And I will say a major, major positive element was the speech given one week ago by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. An extraordinary speech revealing the over one hundred thousand documents that Israeli intelligence seized from Iran. […] The only conclusion from the Israeli intelligence is that the entire Obama Iran deal was built on an edifice of lies. And the only course, I believe, available to the President is the one he took. To withdraw immediately, to re-impose crushing sanctions, to urge our allies to do the same, and to ensure that Iran never, never, never acquires nuclear weapons.”
