Sen. Cruz: ‘Space Policy Directive 1 Reaffirms NASA’s Core Mission’

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Space, Science, and Competitiveness, issued the following statement regarding President Trump’s signing of "Space Policy Directive 1,” which establishes a foundation for a mission to the moon, and beyond.

“I am grateful for the President’s signing of Space Policy Directive 1, which reaffirms NASA’s core mission: leading the world in space exploration,” Sen. Cruz said. “Earlier this year, President Trump signed into law the Cruz-Nelson NASA Transition Authorization Act, which charts an ambitious course for the manned exploration of the moon, Mars and beyond, and ensures the Johnson Space Center remains the crown jewel of NASA’s human spaceflight missions. I am grateful for the bipartisan support in Congress, and the commitment of this administration to champion America’s leadership in space which will be led by NASA and our nation’s commercial space industry.”
