Cruz News: February 23, 2019

February 23, 2019

Greetings,

On Friday, I was in east Texas where I toured TFP Nutrition in Nacogdoches and Atkinson Candy Company in Lufkin. It is always a pleasure meeting with business owners and the hardworking men and women who provide our state with high-quality goods and services. Although Congress has been able to make great strides in improving the economy and job numbers, there is still much work to be done and I appreciate hearing concerns over healthcare and regulations from the great people of east Texas.

This week, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and I wrote a letter to our national security leaders raising concerns that adversaries, including known and suspected terrorists, may be able to threaten America’s national security at the southern border. Amid news reports that Hezbollah and other hostile actors are exploiting political uncertainty in Venezuela, we are seeking a briefing from top national security and diplomatic officials regarding steps being taken to prevent threats from around the world from entering the United States.

Next Wednesday on February 27th, Army veteran Hugh Gary Bryan is expected to be laid to rest unaccompanied by known friends or family. I encourage anyone who is able to attend his burial service to come to the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen at 11:00 A.M. The state of Texas is grateful for his service and the sacrifices of all men and women who serve our country with courage and honor.

Please read below for an update from this last week.

Keep Texas Strong,

TC Sig
Ted Cruz
