FY24 NDAA: TX-Mexico Bridges: Senator Cruz authored legislation to streamline the Presidential permit process to build or expand four international bridges in Texas.

FY24 NDAA: B-1 Protection: Senator Cruz’s amendment extended Sec. 133 of the NDAA for FY22 (PL 117-81), which places certain restrictions on the retirement of B-1 bomber aircraft, from September 30, 2023 to September 30, 2026.

FY24 NDAA: Nord Stream 2 Sanctions: Senator Cruz’s amendment required the Secretary of State, in consultation with the Secretary of the Treasury, to evaluate whether there are foreign persons engaged in significant corruption for the purpose of potential imposition of sanctions under the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act "in relation to the planning or construction or any operation of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline."

FY24 NDAA: DESIST Act: Senator Cruz’s bill prohibited the establishment or maintenance of a unit of the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps at an education institution owned, operated, or controlled by the Chinese Communist Party.

FY24 NDAA: Maduro Regime Efforts to Detain Americans: Sen. Cruz led on legislation requiring the Director of National Intelligence to submit, not later than 120 days after the date of enactment, a report on efforts by the Maduro regime in Venezuela to detain United States citizens and lawful permanent residents.

FY23 NDAA:  Conditions reductions of B-1 bombers for the next year on full replacement by a B-21 bomb wing, which is functionally a prohibition: Senator Cruz continues to champion the B-1 bomber until they are replaced by new B-21s to deter America's adversaries.

FY23 NDAA:  The SCRIPT Act: Senator Cruz authored S. 3466, the SCRIPT Act, to block Department of Defense cooperation with any Hollywood entities engaged in self-censorship on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party.

FY23 NDAA:  COVID-19 vaccine mandate rescission: Senator Cruz authored the AMERICANS Act, which included language to end the Department of Defense's Covid-19 vaccine mandate.

FY23 NDAA: Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) - Lower Clear Creek and Dickinson Bayou Watershed Section 7001 Feasibility Study (City of League City): Sen. Cruz successfully authorized the Army Corps to study flood mitigation concepts in the Lower Clear Creek Watershed and Dickinson Bayou in WRDA 2022. A 500-year storm event in the area has estimated damages of over $1.75 billion affecting over 20,000 structures. This was part of his fight for the Coastal Texas Resiliency Improvement Plan (i.e. Coastal Spine).

FY23 NDAA: Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) - Payment of Repair, Rehabilitation, and Replacement Costs by Non-Federal Interests Under the Water Supply Act of 1958 (Tarrant Regional Water District): Sen. Cruz ensured that legislative language in WRDA 2022 granting non-federal sponsors financing portions of Army Corps water reservoir projects the same financing flexibility that exists for other Army Corps projects.

FY23 NDAA: Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) - Section 7001 Corpus Christi Packery Channel (City of Corpus Christi): Sen. Cruz successfully pushed for a provision in the 2022 Water Resources Development Act authorizing the City of Corpus Christi’s 7001 proposal to change the Packery Channel project’s purpose, clarifying that FEMA is responsible for any damage caused by natural disasters.

FY23 NDAA: Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) - Section 203 Feasibility Study (Sabine-Neches Navigation District): Sen. Cruz successfully pushed for a provision in the 2022 Water Resources Development Act directing the Secretary of the Army to expedite its environmental impact review of the Sabine-Neches Waterway Navigation Improvement Project.

FY23 NDAA:  Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) - Real Estate Conveyance (Port of Corpus Christi): Sen. Cruz successfully pushed for a provision in the 2022 Water Resources Development Act directing the Secretary of the Army to convey the vacated USACE-Galveston District Regional Office in Corpus Christi to the Port of Corpus Christi.

FY23 NDAA: Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) - Nueces County Conveyances (Port of Corpus Christi): Sen. Cruz secured language in 2022 WRDA directing the Army Corps to release easements that are no longer needed in Nueces County, Texas. This will allow the Coastal Texas Resiliency Improvement Plan to move forward. This was a Port of Corpus Christi priority. 

FY23 NDAA: Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) - Waiver of Interest Accrual (Gulf Coast Protection District and Greater Houston Partnership): Sen. Cruz secured language in 2022 WRDA for a waiver of interest accrual on Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay projects of the Gulf Coast Protection District (GCPD). This will give the recently-created GCPD additional time to consider funding options for the non-federal portion of these projects.

FY23 NDAA: Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) - Coastal Texas Resiliency Improvement Plan (Gulf Coast Protection District, Greater Houston Partnership, and Economic Alliance Houston Port Region): Sen. Cruz secured authorization for the Coastal Texas Resiliency Improvement Plan in the 2022 Water Resources Development Act.

FY23 NDAA: Maritime Administration (MARAD) - Bulk Cargo Definition: Senator Cruz offered an amendment in a Commerce markup of Coast Guard legislation to update the MARAD definition of bulk cargo.

FY23 NDAA: Maritime Administration (MARAD) - Shoreside Infrastructure: Senator Cruz offered an amendment in a Commerce markup of Coast Guard legislation to ensure state maritime academies received compensation for any Department of Transportation requirements placed on the state in order to have a state maritime academy.

FY23 NDAA:  Coast Guard - Study on sufficiency of Coast Guard aviation assets to meet mission demands. : Sen. Cruz offered an amendment in a Commerce markup of Coast Guard legislation to study whether the Coast Guard needed an air station at Substation South Padre Island.

FY23 NDAA: Coast Guard - Comprehensive Aviation Strategy for USCG: Senator Cruz offered an amendment to assess Coast Guard aviation operations and needs, and to see how they will be integrated into DOD's Future Vertical Lift Initiatives.

FY23 NDAA: Coast Guard - Aerostat: Senator Cruz offered an amendment in a Commerce markup of Coast Guard legislation to procure a Tethered Aerostat Radar System to help the USCG fight drug trafficking. 

FY23 NDAA: Coast Guard - Study on airstation at Port Mansfield: Senator Cruz offered an amendment in a Commerce markup of Coast Guard legislation to study the feasibility of establishing a new station at Port Mansfield between USCG station South Padre and USCG Station Corpus Christi.

FY23 NDAA: Coast Guard - Operational Data Sharing: Senator Cruz offered an amendment in a Commerce markup of Coast Guard legislation that would establish data sharing between CBP and the USCG to support efforts to monitor our southern maritime border.

FY23 NDAA: Coast Guard - Military to Mariners Act: Senator  Cruz introduced Military to Mariners (S. 4842), legislation to help veterans and members of the military to become merchant mariners.

FY23 NDAA:  Taiwan’s meaningful participation in ICAO: Senator Cruz authored S. 5053 to ensure Taiwan's participation in the International Civil Aviation Organization.

FY23 NDAA:  Report on Fifth Fleet capability requirements: Senator  Cruz wrote a "member interest letter" called for a report on Fifth Fleet capability requirements.

FY23 NDAA:  Support of Brooke Army Medical Center: Senator Cruz submitted S.Amdt.5705 to include language allowing military facilities to cover the costs of treatment for civilian patients. He also filed S.Amdt. 5705 to H.R. 7099 which would allow this.

FY23 NDAA:  Funding for the V-22 Nacelle Improvement Program: Senator Cruz prioritized funding for the V-22 Nacelle Improvement Program in his Member Interest Letter.

FY23 NDAA:  Funding for V-22 Osprey procurement: Senator Cruz advocated for $243 million to procure V-22 aircraft for the Navy.

FY23 NDAA:  Future Vertical Lift: Senator Cruz maximized the Army's Future Vertical Lift Program funding to receive $23 million beyond the President's Budget Request.

FY23 NDAA: Funding for hypersonic weapons testing with the B-1 bomber: Senator Cruz supported adapting B-1 bomber to be capable of deploying hypersonic weapons.

FY22 NDAA: CADET Act: Sen. Cruz's and Sen. Gillibrand's CADET Act corrected the unfair and antiquated policy at U.S. service academies that forces a midshipman or cadet who becomes pregnant or who fathers a child to either sign away parental rights, abort the child, pay devastating financial responsibilities, or leave the academy altogether. The CADET Act ensured that a midshipman or cadet enrolled at West Point, the Air Force Academy, or the Naval Academy can retain legal guardianship of their child while remaining enrolled. This provision will keep military families together.

National Timing Resilience and Security Act : Sen. Cruz authored and passed the bipartisan National Timing Resilience and Security Act, which required the Department of Transportation to create a backup for the timing component of Global Positioning Systems.

Nicaraguan Investment Conditionality Act : Sen. Cruz authored and passed the bipartisan Nicaraguan Investment Conditionality Act (NICA), which conditioned U.S. approval of financial support for the government of Nicaragua on democratic and corruption reforms.

Infrastructure

I-27 Numbering Act : The Cruz-Lujan amendment designated I-27, part of the Ports-to-Plains Corridor, as a future addition to the interstate highway system. It positively impacts 26 counties in Texas by upgrading critical parts of the highway system.

Space

U.S. Commercial Space Launch Competitiveness Act : Sen. Cruz authored and passed the bipartisan U.S. Commercial Space Launch Competitiveness Act.

FY 2019 NDAA: Space-based intercept - Sen. Cruz authored and passed a committee amendment modifying development requirements of space-based missile interceptors.

Aviation

Commercial Balloon Pilot Safety Act: Following the disastrous hot-air balloon crash in Lockhart, Texas, in 2016, Sen. Cruz authored and passed the Commercial Balloon Pilot Safety Act, which required hot-air balloon pilots to undergo medical exams.

2015 FAA Reauthorization: Sen. Cruz authored and passed committee amendment required TSA to create a strategy providing law enforcement with access to video surveillance systems at certain airports.

Vanessa Guillen Postal Office Renaming: Senator Cruz sponsored legislation (S. 4411) renaming a Houston post office after Army Spc. Vanessa Guillén. The atrocious killing of Vanessa Guillén and subsequent investigations highlighted the problem of sexual assault and harassment in the military.

Texas Rangers Resolution: Senator Cruz authored the resolution commemorating the bicentennial of the Texas Rangers.

Texas Christian University Resolution 150 years: Senator Cruz sponsored a resolution celebrating the 150th anniversary of the founding of Texas Christian University.

A resolution recognizing UT Austin's Marching Band's Drum - Big Bertha: Senator Cruz introduced a resolution to recognize the 100th anniversary of Big Bertha at UT Austin, one of the biggest bass drums in use by a university in the United States.
