Sen. Cruz: As Numbers of Illegal Border Crossings Continue to Surge, So Do Americans’ Frustrations

April 6, 2021

HOUSTON, Texas - As the number of illegal aliens streaming across our border reaches the highest levels in at least 15 years, Americans are sick and tired of President Biden's failure to address this crisis. Recent polling indicates that a majority of Americans disapprove of President Biden's handling of our border security and immigration system.

As the number of unaccompanied children taken into custody increased an earthshattering 99% from February to March with more than 18,800 taken into custody, three-quarters of Americans say they disapprove of President Biden's handling of the influx of unaccompanied children.

President Biden's decisions led to this surge and now he is being dishonest with the American people. Border agents apprehended more than 171,000 illegal aliens crossing into the United States in March - an increase of almost 400% over last March - despite President Biden's claim that this situation is the same as any other year.

The national security and criminal threat caused by this crisis becomes more evident by the day. Millions of illegal aliens are expected to surge across our borders this fiscal year, and this inevitably includes dangerous criminals, cartel members, human traffickers, and terrorists. Just this week, we learned that two Yemeni nationals currently on the FBI's terror watchlist had entered the United States in recent months illegally. This latest news comes after reporting from Axios last month that four people matching names on the FBI's Terrorist Screening Database had been arrested at the southern border this fiscal year.

Bottom Line: Sen. Cruz shares Americans' frustrations with the horrific consequences of the crisis President Biden caused, tried to hide, and now refuses to get under control. Sen. Cruz is calling for President Biden to end his dangerous and radical pro-illegal immigration agenda and secure our borders to keep Americans safe.
