Sen. Cruz Issues Statement of Support to the Jewish Community

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today issued the following statement of support to the Jewish community as it comes together for the first Shabbat since the horrific, anti-Semitic attack at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania:

“Last Saturday, a bigoted coward carried out an act of pure evil when he murdered eleven Jews who were gathered for Shabbat services at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. He targeted them because they were Jewish. It was the deadliest anti-Semitic attack in U.S. history.

“This evening will mark the first Shabbat since the attack. Heidi and I stand in solidarity with the Jewish people, and especially the Jewish community in Pittsburgh, which is coming together to support each other during this difficult and painful time. We join in praying for the victims and their families, and for a speedy recovery for all those who were injured including our brave members of law enforcement. The ancient hatred that is anti-Semitism has been on the rise all over the world. There is no place for it in our society or in any society, and now more than ever we must reaffirm our unequivocal condemnation and commitment to fight anti-Semitism in all its forms.”
