Sen. Cruz Visits Harris County Emergency Operations Center and Issues Updated Statement on Hurricane Harvey

HOUSTON, Texas- On Friday, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) visited the Harris County emergency operations center and received a briefing from Harris County officials leading the local response to Hurricane Harvey. Following the storm's landfall in Texas Friday night, the senator urged all Texans to continue to heed warnings and evacuation notices.

"Hurricane Harvey made landfall last night in the vicinity of Rockport and Port Aransas, and early reports indicate extensive damage in those areas. We continue to lift up all Texans in prayer who have been impacted by this dangerous storm, mindful that the threat of severe storms and flash flooding remain," Sen. Cruz said. "My office continues to be in close contact with Gov. Abbott, FEMA, and local officials on the ground leading the response to this storm. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and encourage all Texans to heed local warnings and avoid high water areas."
