ICYMI: Sen. Cruz Speaks With Michael Berry, Joe Pags on Texas Radio

Urges Texans heed hurricane warnings from local officials; discusses commitment to repealing and replacing Obamacare

HOUSTON, Texas – On Thursday, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) joined San Antonio’s Joe Pags on WOAI and Houston’s Michael Berry on KTRH to discuss hurricane preparedness efforts and urge Texans in the path of Hurricane Harvey to heed the warnings of local officials. Sen. Cruz also discussed his efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare, and reduce the burden from Washington on small businesses, farmers and ranchers across the Lone Star state.

When asked about Hurricane Harvey, Sen. Cruz urged Texans in the path of the storm to heed the warnings and advisories of local officials.

“Watch the emergency warnings carefully,” Sen. Cruz said to Joe Pags. “And listen to the advice as we learn more where exactly it’s going to hit, and how serious it is. But if you hear evacuation advisory, take it seriously. Don’t mess around. I mean we’re getting predictions of up to 20 inches of rain and that flooding can be very dangerous and it can be life threatening. So take it seriously and don’t mess around.”

When asked about the priorities of Texans, Sen. Cruz reiterated his commitment to repealing and replacing Obamacare, and delivering on the promises made to the American people.

“As we crisscross the state there’s a consistent message which is that people are number one hopeful, that with a Republican administration and Republican majorities in both houses, that we can deliver on everything we’ve been promising,” Sen. Cruz said to Michael Berry. “That we can repeal Obamacare, and cut taxes, and cut regulations, and see jobs coming back. But people are also frustrated. They’re frustrated and ticked that we’re sitting here in late August and we’ve gotten it done yet. And they’re mad at Congress, they’re frustrated and they want Republicans to stop running around shooting each other and focus on getting the job done. Which is very much what I’m trying to do each and every day. ”
