Greetings,
The past week has seen an amazing outpouring of love, support, and compassion for the millions of Texans who have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The generosity of Texans helping Texans, and of Americans from far and wide contributing to the rescue, recovery, and rebuilding efforts of our great state has truly been incredible — it’s a story I tried to capture in a video my office released earlier this week.
As Texans, we are all grateful for the help from everyday citizens and from every level of government helping those in need. While assisting volunteers at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston last week, I discussed state and federal recovery resources for those affected by Hurricane Harvey with Federal Coordinating Officer Kevin Hannes from FEMA and Michael Flores from the U.S. Small Business Administration. You can view the full discussion here and find the helpful resources we discussed below.
On Tuesday on the Senate floor I highlighted the bravery of first responders and volunteers, the recovery and rebuilding efforts for those affected by Hurricane Harvey, and the critical need for emergency funding for disaster relief, a few days before Congress offered its strong bipartisan support for major federal relief for the millions of Texans hurting from the storm.
Before visiting impacted areas in Beaumont, Refugio, Victoria and Port Aransas on Friday, I announced the establishment of a Hurricane Harvey recovery working group in my Senate office to ensure swift and effective service to Texans and Texas communities in need of federal assistance following the storm. If you need additional information or assistance during this recovery and rebuilding process, please do not hesitate to contact my office or utilize the federal and state resources listed here.
Keep Texas Strong,
Ted Cruz
