Sen. Cruz Issues Statement Following Vote of Support for Senate Resolution Disapproving Sale of Arms to Qatar

June 13, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today issued the following statement after voting for a resolution disapproving a sale of arms to Qatar:

“Qatar is a deeply problematic ally. The Qataris aggressively support the Muslim Brotherhood, which foments terrorism across the Middle East and beyond. They finance Al Jazeera, which spreads disinformation and incitement globally. I hope and expect that today’s vote will be read as a message that the Qataris must do much more to end these and similar practices, and I urge the administration to use the enormous amount of leverage we have to ensure they do so.”
