Sen. Cruz on Announcement to Ground 737 Max Aircraft Operated by U.S. Airlines

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation’s Subcommittee on Aviation and Space, issued the following statement in response to President Trump and the Federal Aviation Administration’s announcement to ground 737 Max aircraft operated by U.S. airlines:

“Yesterday I called for the United States to temporarily ground 737 Max aircraft until the FAA confirms the safety of these aircraft,” Sen. Cruz said. “I am pleased to see the leadership of President Trump and the Federal Aviation Administration’s Acting Administrator Dan Elwell in ordering the temporary grounding of 737 Max aircraft to prioritize the safety of travelers. As chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation’s Subcommittee on Aviation and Space, I look forward to holding a hearing to further investigate and address concerns surrounding these crashes.”
