Sen. Cruz: Senate Democrats Yet Again Try to Derail a Well-Qualified Nominee Because They Are Terrified of the Radical Left

Praises Senate Judiciary Committee’s vote of support for William Barr’s Attorney General nomination and judicial nominees to fill Texas District Court vacancies

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), a member of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, today released the following statement after the Judiciary Committee approved the nomination of William Barr for U.S. Attorney General, along with 44 nominations to fill vacancies on the U.S. Circuit and District Courts, the Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. Court of International Trade.  The Judiciary Committee also approved the nomination of a new Director of the U.S. Marshals Service.

“It was truly sad to see Senate Democrats yet again try to derail a well-qualified nominee to serve our country because they are terrified of their radical left wing base,” Sen. Cruz said. “William Barr previously served as a competent and capable Attorney General, and I am confident that when confirmed he will once again ably serve our nation.”

Sen. Cruz also applauded the Senate Judiciary Committee’s approval of four nominees to Texas District Courts included in today’s vote: J. Campbell Barker, nominee to be U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas, Matthew Joseph Kacsmaryk, nominee to be U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Texas, David Steven Morales, nominee to be U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Texas, and Michael Joseph Truncale, nominee to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas.

“I am glad that the Senate Judiciary Committee has favorably reported out four more nominees for the federal bench in Texas,” Sen. Cruz said. “Texans will be well served by these nominees’ commitment to the rule of law, and I urge their swift confirmation by the full Senate.”
