WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Texas) today introduced the Red River Gradient Boundary Survey Act to require the necessary gradient boundary survey of the 116-mile stretch of the Red River between Texas and Oklahoma.

“Texas has a long, proud history of protecting private property rights,” Sen. Cruz said. “This survey is long overdue, and landowners along the Red River rightfully want action. I am proud to work with Sen. Cornyn and Rep. Thornberry to ensure private property in Texas is identified and protected.”

“Texas families who have owned property along the Red River for generations deserve certainty that the federal government has no rightful claim to their property,” said Sen. Cornyn. “This bill is a critical step in delivering that certainty, and I look forward to working with Rep. Thornberry, Sen. Cruz, and others to usher this bill through Congress.”

“Private property owners should never have to worry about the federal government coming in and taking away their land,” said Thornberry. “This bill is another step in helping to provide these property owners the assurance they deserve to know where public lands end and private lands begin.”
