WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Saturday U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) voted to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court, calling his confirmation, “a great victory for all of us who cherish the Constitution.”

Several news outlets covered Sen. Cruz’s support. Selected news coverage is below.

Dallas Morning News: Senate confirms Brett Kavanaugh to Supreme Court as dozens of protesters attempt to disrupt vote
“Texas Sen. Ted Cruz tweeted a video of him speaking to reporters and being drowned out by protesters, whom he called ‘the angry Left.’ ‘This rage isn't good for our country,’ he said in the tweet. ‘The Dems' behavior has been abominable--dragging a good man & his family through the mud--but after a careful and fair process, a great victory for all of us who cherish the Constitution.’”

KVUE: (VIDEO) Sens. Cruz, Cornyn vote ‘yes’ on Kavanaugh Confirmation
“Senators from Texas both voted ‘yes’ on Kavanaugh. Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn released statements speaking about the pushback against Kavanaugh’s nomination. […] Senator Cruz posted on Twitter, saying in part, quote – ‘this rage isn't good for our country. The Dems’ behavior has been abominable dragging a good man & his family through the mud - but after a careful and fair process, a great victory for all of us who cherish the Constitution.’”

Texas Tribune: Sens. Ted Cruz, John Cornyn vote to advance Brett Kavanaugh nomination
“The U.S. Senate — including the two senators from Texas — voted to move forward on the controversial U.S. Supreme Court nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. U.S. Sens. John Cornyn and Ted Cruz were among 51 senators who backed Kavanaugh's nomination in a procedural vote Friday morning, with 49 senators voting to block the nomination. […] In a statement after the Friday vote, Cruz said that both Kavanaugh and Ford gave ‘powerful testimony’ that was ‘in conflict’ with each other. ‘It is the job of the Senate to weigh the evidence fairly,’ he stated. ‘Typically, when a court of law considers conflicting testimony, it looks to corroborating evidence to resolve that conflict. In this instance, Dr. Ford pointed to three specific fact witnesses. And each of the named fact witnesses, under penalty of perjury, explicitly refuted Dr. Ford's allegations.’ ‘Last night, I read through the entire supplemental FBI report. Ten witnesses interviewed by the FBI, meticulously detailed, and not a single piece of corroborating evidence. In a fair process, that should be compelling.’”

KHOU: (VIDEO) Sen. Cruz: ‘Today Was a Good Day for the Senate’
“Both Texas senators voted to confirm today. Senator Ted Cruz […] spoke to reporters just steps away from the throngs of protesters. ‘Today was a good day for the Senate after seeing one of the most shameful proceedings over the last couple of weeks a majority of the Senate made the right decision and confirmed Judge Kavanaugh as Justice Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court.’”
