Sen. Cruz Applauds Department of Education’s Initial Recovery Support Funding to Santa Fe Through Project SERV

‘This is a crucial first step in federal funding to help the Santa Fe High School community recover’

HOUSTON, Texas - Following the horrific school shooting at Santa Fe High School, today the Department of Education announced $1 million in federal funds for the Santa Fe Independent School District through a Project School Emergency Response to Violence (Project SERV) grant. Last week, at a roundtable discussion on school safety with Texas leaders and victims of the school shooting, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) urged for federal funds to be dispersed in an expedited manner to assist in recovery for the Santa Fe educational community.

"This a crucial first step in federal funding to help the Santa Fe High School community recover," Sen. Cruz said. "I applaud Secretary DeVos for expediting this grant, and will continue to work to ensure Santa Fe High School receives the assistance it needs. I also remain committed to working with the Governor, the Administration, and my Congressional colleagues to put an end to these violent crimes and protect our students."
