Sen. Cruz: ‘President Trump Underscored the Incredible Victories for Working Men and Women’

Releases statement praising legislative victories of 2017, including historic tax cuts for middle class Americans

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) released the following statement regarding President Trump’s first State of the Union address.

“I thought the speech was very strong,” Sen. Cruz said. “The president highlighted the tremendous successes we had in 2017: passing a historic tax cut, reducing regulations, repealing the Obamacare individual mandate, and confirming a record number of strong constitutionalist judges. And the President underscored the incredible victories for working men and women that we’re seeing. More jobs, higher wages, more opportunities. Those are the top priorities of Texans. And I think 2017 in a very real way, Republican majorities in Congress and the Republican administration delivered on our promises. We need to continue delivering on those promises in 2018.”

“The President did an incredible job highlighting the parents of those who have lost their children to MS-13 and violent illegal aliens. Highlighting heroes, whether police officers, and coastguardsmen, or first responders across the country. And the President did a tremendous job overall focusing on jobs, on wages going up, on the historic tax cut,” Sen. Cruz said to Sean Hannity. “I thought it was a very, very strong speech, and a strong night for the President.”
