WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) released the following statement regarding the tax reform announcement made by House leadership earlier today:
“I am very encouraged to see the House moving forward on our commitment to fundamental tax reform for the American people. While the next couple of months will involve extensive negotiations, I am confident we will get the job done. I will continue to press for the key principles of economic growth, simplicity, and fairness, as well as the seven critical policy elements of tax reform, that I have consistently outlined. Lowering rates – both corporate and individual – will create a simpler and fairer tax structure that decreases the tax burden on hardworking Americans and small business owners. I remain committed to genuine tax cuts that will spark economic growth and create meaningful opportunities for working people and families all across our country.”
In September, Sen. Cruz outlined his priorities for tax reform at a speech hosted by the Tax Foundation.
