WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) released the following statement regarding the Trump administration’s announcement that it will roll back the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ controversial contraception mandate:

“Today the administration ended a policy that was repugnant to our country’s tradition of religious freedom,” Sen. Cruz said. “For the Little Sisters of the Poor and others facing similar persecution for their religious faith, today’s announcement is a significant victory. Like many of the previous administration's controversial policies, the contraception mandate was an invention of the executive branch. It is therefore both fitting and proper that the executive branch reversed course when the mandate’s faults became too glaring to overlook.”
