Cruz Thanks Paul Teller for Tremendous Service; Names David Polyansky New Chief of Staff

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Paul Teller, the chief of staff to U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), will be transitioning to a senior leadership role at a recently established non-profit organization that will strengthen and promote conservative principles across the country. Teller has served in Cruz’s Senate office since January 2014 and has long been a leader within the conservative movement in Washington, D.C., working to mobilize grassroots conservative groups and magnify their impact and effectiveness over federal issues and legislation.

Cruz has named David Polyansky his new chief of staff, effective next month.

“Throughout our work together in the Senate, Paul has played a critical role in advancing the conservative principles we’ve fought for over and over,” Cruz said. “Paul is principled, he is dedicated, and he has earned the trust of conservative leaders across the nation. I am proud to call Paul a friend and to work alongside him to defend our liberty.

“I am excited to have David come aboard as my new chief of staff -- his leadership, expertise and judgment were critical to our presidential campaign.” Cruz added, “David is a Marine, a Texan, and a deeply experienced leader. I am confident that David will bring energy, passion, and effectiveness to leading our team as we continue our fight in the Senate to defend the interests and concerns of Texans, help create good paying jobs for families in our state and across the nation, protect the fundamental freedoms of every American, and prioritize the safety and security of our nation both at home and abroad.”

Polyansky most recently served as a senior political and communications advisor for Cruz’s presidential campaign. Prior to that, David held a senior role in Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s 2016 presidential effort.

In the 2014 election cycle, Polyansky served as senior strategist to Joni Ernst’s successful U.S. Senate campaign in Iowa and assisted Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin’s successful re-election in Oklahoma. He previously served as senior advisor for Governor Mike Huckabee’s 2008 presidential campaign and has also worked with advocacy organizations, trade associations and a major collegiate athletic department to advance their strategic and communications goals. Polyansky is a six-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, and currently resides in Houston, Texas with his wife Kirsten and two young children.

“Sen. Cruz has kept the promises he made to Texans when he was elected. He has led boldly in the Senate to make Texans’ futures brighter, to give them and their children greater opportunity and to keep them safe,” Polyansky said. “He knows what it takes to turn this country around and will be a strong, clarion voice for the values and principles of the Texans who entrusted him to take on the entrenched interests of Washington, and restore power back to the people. Under his leadership, Texas will remain strong and our nation will find renewed hope that our best days lie ahead. I’m honored to take on this role and to join Sen. Cruz in advancing his commitment to these priorities.”
