Houston Chronicle: Cruz report accuses Obama of “assault on Texas”
Sen. Ted Cruz has issued a report on “The Obama Administration’s Assault on Texas.”
The freshman Republican from Texas is the ranking minority member of a Senate Judiciary subcommittee which deals with the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights.
This report, the third in a series written by Cruz on what he sees as Obama overreach, “ goes through 10 cases where the Obama administration has advocated for overbroad views of federal power and has been over and over again repudiated by the federal courts,” Cruz said in a Fox News interview.
Cases within the report include a suit against Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius over Medicaid funding under Obamacare; the federal preclearance formerly required under the Voting Rights Act for Texas redistricting; and a suit filed by Texas against the Department of Education for withholding $830 million in educational funding.
