Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) declared that President Obama was essentially "counterfeiting immigration documents" with his executive action on immigration on Tuesday's "Kelly File" on the Fox News Channel.

"The administration is printing work authorizations. it is affirmatively acting in contravention of federal law, basically, what it's doing is counterfeiting immigration documents, because the work authorizations its printing are directly contrary to the text of federal law. It is dangerous when the president ignores federal law" he stated.

Regarding President Obama's response to a federal court's ruling on his executive action on immigration, Cruz said "that has been the nature of the Obama presidency from day one. You know, it's interesting, he says the law is on his side. There is at least one person who calls himself a legal scholar who disagrees, and his name is Barack Obama. 22 times President Obama has admitted he doesn't have the authority to issue unilateral amnesty. 22 times he says the Constitution doesn't allow it. he said, this is not a monarchy, that's his quote. Then after the last election he said, never mind, I issued it anyway."
