November 4, 2017

Greetings,

What a great week to be a Texan and a Houstonian. I want to congratulate the Houston Astros on their 2017 World Series Championship! In the wake of Hurricane Harvey and all of the devastation felt along the entire Texas Gulf Coast, the Astros brought home an amazing and historic victory for the city of Houston, the Texas Gulf Coast, and the entirety of the Lone Star State. The Astros’ World Series championship personifies the 'can do’ Texas spirit and signals to the world that even after an incredibly difficult few months, Texas is coming back stronger than ever.

In Washington this week, I discussed the future of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and its importance to Texas agriculture and business at an event hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. More than two million Texas jobs rely on international trade, and I have urged the Trump Administration to modernize the agreement, expand access to Mexican and Canadian markets for Texas products, and increase international trade.

I also released a video encouraging Texans affected by Hurricane Harvey to apply for FEMA’s individual disaster assistance before the November 30th deadline. You can register at disasterassistance.gov

My Senate office continues to work to ensure swift and effective service to Texans and Texas communities in need of federal assistance following the storm. If you need additional information or assistance during the recovery and rebuilding process, please do not hesitate to contact my office or utilize the federal and state resources listed here.

Please read below for an update from this last week.

Keep Texas Strong,

TC Sig
