Cruz, Cornyn Statements on New HUD Resources for Texas Hurricane Recovery

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and John Cornyn (R-Texa) today released the following statements after the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced they are directing $57.8 million in previously appropriated and unobligated Community Development Block Grant Disaster Relief (CDBG-DR) funds toward aid for Texans recovering from Hurricane Harvey:

"These resources - part of the first wave of funding secured by the Texas delegation - are excellent news for Texas and will be critical in our state's effort to rebuild," Sen. Cruz said. "There is still much to be done in terms of securing the funding necessary to recover from this historic, catastrophic storm and I look forward to continue working with Sen. Cornyn, the Texas delegation, Gov. Abbott, and the Administration to ensure that Texas receives the assistance it is due," said Sen. Cruz.

"I'm grateful President Trump and the Administration are directing these resources toward Harvey recovery in Texas," Sen. Cornyn said. "These additional funds will go a long way to helping Texans rebuild, and I'll continue fighting for the countless number of folks still struggling to recover from this horrific storm."
